The Rathcormac Craft Village is a beautifully restored farm yard
from the 17th Century, situated at the foot of Benbulben near the final resting
place of W.B. Yeats. The craft village is set on a 100 acre farm that stretches
to the sea in an area of north Sligo that has an ancient historical and
mythological past.
The Craft Village provides an ideal environment for creative
artwork and the yard has been transformed into a creative hub for the North
West.
Old
stone buildings flanked by ancient sycamores provide a backdrop for a calm and
welcoming atmosphere where the public can stroll at leisure around the craft
workshops which include Ceramic Art, Woodturning, Pottery, Stained Glass,
Jewellery, Antiques and Sculpture.
After
visiting the craft units a coffee can be enjoyed in Vintage Lane cafe, before
going to investigate the replica Bronze Age round house located on site among
other historical exhibits and info on surrounding areas.
The Craft and food market is on
Saturdays from 10-3 and is a real hive of activity, produce and crafts are
bought and sold in a friendly community market every weekend, with live guest
musicians and buskers providing entertainment. Ample coach and car parking is
available.
